Amount:Based on the difference between the old and new SEER rating for central AC units; and old and new EER rating for wall type AC units.
Maximum Incentive:50% of the installed cost of a new ENERGY STAR system
Equipment Requirements: Replacement air conditioning units must be ENERGY STAR qualified and meet current ENERGY STAR qualifications. Must be Energy Star certified and must be replacing 10 SEER units for central AC or 9 EER or less for room air conditioners. All air conditioning units to be replaced must be in working condition. Window air conditioning units do not qualify
Installation Requirements:Air conditioning units to be replaced must serve a rental unit (two or more attached units that are not owner occupied) in Glendale, CA. AC units must be permanently installed.
Summary: Glendale Water and Power (GWP) offers an incentive for landlords and building owners of multi-family
residential rental units to replace inefficient air conditioning units with new ENERGY STAR® qualified
units. All air conditioning units to be replaced must be in working condition. Window air conditioning units do not qualify. The actual rebate amount is determined by the level of efficiency and can equal up to 50% of the installed cost.
Building owners must contact GWP (818) 548-3300 to schedule a pre-retrofit inspection. GWP conducts the inspection, documents the existing SEER/EER levels, and ensures AC is operational. Building owner completes work and notifies GWP to schedule a post-retrofit inspection. GWP conducts post-retrofit inspection, verifies ENERGY STAR qualifications of new units, records SEER/EER levels of new units and calculates final rebate amount. Building owner signs completed rebate application and W9 form.
The Peak Hog Small Business Program is similar to the multifamily residential program, but some separate conditions apply.
